The Los Angeles Galaxy star jetted to the UK after playing against New York Red Bulls at the start of the week, raising concerns the 32-year-old former national team captain might suffer from tiredness as he tries to give his best for club and country.

But he is adamant the long-haul flight did not affect him as he put in a decent performance in the 2-1 defeat.

Asked if the trip had been a problem, Beckham told Sky Sports News: "Not at all. I've slept really well since I've been here, I've slept nine hours every night since I've been here.

"My body clock has slotted back into the way of life here in England so so far it has not affected me, in the future who knows, I can't say it's not going to. But at the moment it's not, and I'll go on playing for my country as long as I'm wanted."

Meanwhile, England captain John Terry insisted goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who was at fault for Germany's first goal by Kevin Kuranyi, was not the only one to blame for the Wembley defeat.

He said: "I gave away possession for the second goal (scored by Christian Pander), it was a silly place to try and play in midfield.

"I'm sure Robbo can come out and speak about his error that he made, but speaking about myself I could have done a lot better for the second goal and cleared the ball."
