PERTH Glory surge into the A-League top six has been soured with Travis Dodd ruled out of Wednesday night’s vital clash with Sydney FC due to injury.
Dodd suffered an abdominal strain in the win over Melbourne Heart on Sunday and will return to Perth for rehabilitation.
The in-form winger still has to undergo scans to determine the extent of the injury but Glory are hopeful he just missed the Sky Blues clash in Sydney.
"It's a shame for Travis and the team but we have some very good young West Australians who are ready to step up," Glory coach Ian Ferguson said.
Youngster Adam Taggart has been added to the Perth squad for the crucial game with the out-of-sorts Sydney in a rescheduled game from week 9.
The Glory are unbeaten in their last four games, while Sydney have lost four in a row.
"The response from the players has been excellent," Ferguson said.
"The football we are playing has been good but we need to be more ruthless with the chances we are creating."
After Wednesday night’s game, the Glory return to Perth to face Melbourne Victory on Sunday.
