Auckland City manager Ramon Tribulietx is set to apply for the vacant head coaching role at Wellington Phoenix following Darije Kalezić's planned departure.
Phoenix announced on Thursday Kalezić will leave the struggling club at the end of this season.
"Head coach of the Wellington Phoenix, Darije Kalezic, wishes to announce that he will not be continuing as head coach of the club next season," the statement said.
"The parties were not able to find a mutual agreement on how to proceed forward and because of this have decided to move in separate directions."
The Serb is likely to be replaced in the next few weeks, after managing just four wins from 21 games this season.
Tribulietx's management has told FourFourTwo that the Spaniard will be applying for the job.
The 45-year-old has been in charge of Auckland City since 2010.
In that time the club has qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup seven times, impressively finishing third in 2014.
City has also won two New Zealand Football championships, three premierships and the OFC Champions League seven times.
According to reports, former Adelaide City coach Aurelio Vidmar has also been linked to the position.
