The Superlig side snapped up the young Aussie on a three-year deal after he was released by Newcastle United at the end of last season and he was handed a place in the squad for Sunday's clash.

The Olyroo youngster, who was linked with moves to Newcastle Jets, Holland and Spain before signing on the dotted line with the Turks, emerged from the bench as a 65th minute substitute as his new team saw off Eskisehirspor.

Troisi couldn’t get on the scoresheet but the points were already in the bag by the time he replaced Engin Bayter.

Fellow Aussie Bruce Djite, who has made an impressive start to life in Turkey, managed 74 minutes before being replaced by Daniel Addo.

Genclerbirligi’s goals came courtesy of Mustafa Pektemek (8 and 65) and a 39th minute effort from Erkan Ozbey.
