Australia took the lead against La Roja in the first half thanks to Troisi’s magnificent finish. Chile levelled it to 1-1 in the second half and both teams pushed for a winner but it remained all square at full-time.

The Socceroos took it to the South American heavyweights from the kick off and never let them find their rhythm, as they chased a two-goal win.

Troisi said the display against Chile will show the world what this Aussie team is about.

"I'm extremely proud," he said.

"Obviously a disappointing result but we want to change the thought and the mentality of Australian football.

"We want to be seen to be completely different. People think we are the long ball, fighting, kicking team.

"You definitely need to do that in football, everyone has to fight, everyone has to work hard, but we want to play our football, press high and be dangerous. We created a lot of opportunities today.

Stacks on!

"We’ll be disappointed we didn’t finish some of those opportunities, but I’m extremely proud of the boys and the coaching staff. There’s a lot of postivies to take out of this."

Australia have been eliminated from the Confederations Cup but Troisi wants the Socceroos to be back in Russia in 12 months' time.

"The atmosphere is fantastic," the attacking midfielder said.

"From what we’ve seen the cities are nice, the stadiums are amazing. They’re some of the best stadiums I’ve played in.

"It was a good competition and I'm really looking forward to a World Cup we want to be in."
