Neymar, considered one of the most promising players in Brazil and linked with a summer move to Chelsea, has been fined following an argument with his coach at Santos, Dorival Junior, and will not feature in either match next month against opposition yet to be confirmed.

Menezes said: "We've lived troubled moments in the past, and we want to keep problems out of the national team at this point.

"We believe it's important to send this message out for everybody to have in mind the way we work. We want to leave clear the line we have chosen to manage this group.

"Neymar is a brilliant player, and if he shows that on the field, he will have his chance and will return to the national team."

Menezes did include seven home-based players in his squad, including two unexpected names in the shape of goalkeeper Neto (Atletico Paranaense) and defender Mariano (Fluminense).

They join Giuliano (Internacional), Jefferson (Botafogo), Victor (Gremio), Rever (Atletico Mineiro) and Elias (Corinthians).

Only five men survive from the World Cup roster - Dani Alves, Nilmar, Ramires, Robinho and Thiago Silva.
