After losing away to Rangers in the Champions League in midweek, a stalemate against mid-table opponents was not how the leaders would have wanted to end the week, having won all five of their previous domestic league fixtures.

However they hold a two-point lead at the summit, with Trabzonspor today jumping to second place courtesy of a 1-0 win over Besiktas, who could have gone top with victory but instead drop to fourth.

Mustafa Yumlu scored the only goal of the game after 51 minutes, a brave header into the top right corner from amid a thicket of bodies. Trabzonspor had Teofilo Gutierrez sent off in the 90th minute but held on to their lead.

Kasimpasa remain winless at the foot of the table, losing 3-1 at Antalyaspor today.

The strugglers went ahead after nine minutes when Ersen Martin netted, but Brazilian striker Tita scored twice and Kerem Seras was also on target as Antalyaspor fought back strongly.

Sivasspor and Gaziantepspor battled out a 1-1 draw, with Julio Cesar's 38th-minute opener for Gaziantepspor countered by Mehmet Yildiz's equaliser after 57 minutes.
