RUSTU RECBER (Besiktas, 10/05/73)

The extrovert veteran stopper is Turkey's most-capped played with 115 caps. Despite starting qualifying as number one, injury meant he lost his place to Volkan.

VOLKAN DEMIREL (Fenerbahce, 27/10/81)

Took his chance in the side following injury to Rustu and is expected to be coach Fatih Terim's first choice. Has impressed for Fenerbahce in their run to the quarter-finals in this season's Champions League - most notably making three stops in the last 16 shoot-out win over Sevilla.

HAKAN ARIKAN (Besiktas, 17/08/82)

Set to be Turkey's third-choice keeper in Austria and Switzerland. Has been criticised for making high-profile mistakes for Besiktas and conceded eight goals in their record 8-0 Champions League defeat to Liverpool at Anfield this season.

DEFENDERS

SERVET CETIN (Galatasaray, 17/03/81)

The commanding centre-back cuts an imposing figure at the heart of the Turkey defence with his 6ft 3in frame. However, he has been criticised for a lack of pace and being poor at one-on-ones with quick strikes.

GOKHAN ZAN (Besiktas, 07/09/81)

Formed a formidable partnership alongside Servet during qualifying and has also impressed for Besiktas this season.

EMRE ASIK (Galasataray, 13/12/73)

The veteran has been rejuvenated during his loan spell with Ankaraspor this season and is set to provide cover at centre-back.

GOKHAN GONUL (Fenerbahce, 01/04/85)

Despite only making his international debut back in November, Gokhan has produced several eye-catching performances at right-back and could make a big impact this summer.

IBRAHIM UZULMEZ (Besiktas, 10/03/74)

Able to play at left-back or left-midfield, Uzulmez will give Fatih much-needed versatility and will compete for a place in defence.

HAKAN BALTA (Galatasaray, 23/03/83)

Hakan joined Galatasaray in September and a series of consistent displays at left-back have catapulted him into contention for a place in the starting line-up.

VOLKAN YAMAN (Galatasaray, 27/08/82)

Has competed with Hakan at his club for a place at full-back and will do the same at this summer's finals.

MIDFIELDERS

HAMIT ALTINTOP (Bayern Munich, 08/12/82)

Altintop was one of Turkey's most influential players in qualifying and Fatih will be hoping he wins his race to be fit for the finals after breaking his metatarsal at the end of March.

MEHMET AURELIO (Fenerbahce - 15/12/77)

The Brazil-born midfielder formed an excellent partnership with Altintop in qualifying and his industry in the middle of the park will be a huge asset to the Turkish side.

EMRE BELOZOGLU (Newcastle, 07/09/80)

Although he is only 27, it seems like Emre has been around forever. With the vision to spot a crucial pass and a dead-ball specialist, Terim will be hoping Emre is at his best during the summer.

YILDIRAY BASTURK (Stuttgart, 24/12/78)

Once one of the brightest talents in European football, serious injuries have hampered Basturk, but the little playmaker is still one of the best on his day.

ARDA TURAN (Galatasaray, 30/01/87)

The young winger has attracted interest from several clubs around Europe after emerging this season. With pace and flair on the wing, he will be one to watch in Austria and Switzerland.

GOKDENIZ KARADENIZ (Rubin Kazan, 11/01/80)

After becoming established at Trabzonspor, Gokdeniz signed for Russian side Rubin Kazan this year. The attacking midfielder will add flair to the Turkey side.

TUMER METIN (Larissa, 14/10/74)

Now playing for Greek side Larissa, Tumer is dangerous on the left wing and his precise free-kicks will cause opposing teams problems this summer.

SABRI SARIOGLU (Galatasaray, 26/07/84)

A versatile midfielder who can also play at right-back, Sabri was given his competitive debut at Galatasaray by Fatih and made seven appearances in qualifying.

STRIKERS

HAKAN SUKUR (Galatasaray, 01/09/71)

Turkey's most recognisable player and all-time top scorer. The 36-year-old scored five goals in qualifying and Euro 2008 will be his last major finals, if indeed he is selected.

TUNCAY SANLI (Middlesbrough, 16/01/82)

The Middlesbrough man has produced some eye-catching displays in his first season in the Premier League and will be hoping to continue that form this summer.

NIHAT KAHVECI (Villarreal, 23/11/79)

Nihat was once one of the most feared strikers in Europe but injuries stalled his career. Has recaptured his best form for Villarreal and scored some crucial goals in qualifying. Set to lead the attack this summer.

HALIL ALTINTOP (Schalke, 08/12/82)

Twin brother of Hamit and a lethal finisher on his day.

SEMIH SENTURK (Fenerbahce, 29/04/83)

Has stepped up to the plate this season at Fenerbahce after Tuncay's departure and will hope to make an impact from the bench for Turkey.

GOKHAN UNAL (Kayserispor - 23/07/82)

Has an impressive scoring record for Turkey and scored twice in only four appearances in qualifying.
