THE Matildas' crucial showdown with Canada for a place in the Women's World Cup quarter finals could be wiped out by a typhoon.
The Matildas’ match, scheduled for kick-off at 7.00pm (AEST) tomorrow is one of four matches placed on alert by tournament authorities with the possibility of a 24 hour match delay.
Other matches affected by the severe weather warnings include Norway v Ghana (Shanghai), China v New Zealand (Tianjin) and Brazil v Denmark (Hangzhou). The matches scheduled for Tuesday 18 September will go ahead as planned.
FIFA and the Local Organising Committee will continue to monitor the weather situation and are expected to announce their decision, to proceed with the original match times or postpone the four matches to Thursday 20 September, by 5.00pm (AEST) today.
