ATLETICO Madrid's stadium ban in the Champions League has been reduced to a two-match behind-closed-doors sentence, with one match deferred for two years, UEFA announced on Friday night.
The Spanish side were initially given a three-match stadium ban, with one deferred, for the violent incidents between police and fans at the Champions League clash with Marseille on October 1.
But an appeal from Atletico has been partially upheld by the UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body.
It means their next home match in Europe's elite club competition - against PSV Eindhoven on November 26 - will be played without spectators.
The fine of 150,000 euros still stands.
The two-match ban on Atletico coach Javier Aguirre has also been upheld so he will be forced to sit in the stands for the clashes against Liverpool away on November 4 and PSV on November 26.
The club have 10 days to appeal the decision of the Appeals Body to the Court of Arbitration for Sport
end.
