The Rossoneri“s poor start to the Serie A campaign, which saw Milan claim just nine points in seven games, has put Leonardo in the hotseat.

Sunday's 1-1 draw against 10-man Atalanta in Bergamo left the Rossoneri in 11th position in the standings, seven points behind league leaders Inter Milan and Sampdoria.

Leonardo said: "We are going through a difficult time and it is up to us to turn this around.

"We need to be humble and I always say that to my players.

"But willingness is something this team never lacks and that is something positive."

Leonardo, who replaced the long-serving Carlo Ancelotti as coach this summer in what is his first experience coaching in Italy's top flight, has no intention to throw in the towel just yet.

"I am the AC Milan coach," he said.

"I was given this opportunity and I will continue. I absolutely have no intention to step down."

Lack of goalscoring has been the Rossoneri's main problem this season with Leonardo's men having found the net just twice in the last six league games.

Alexandre Pato has not scored since their 2-1 win at Siena in their Serie A opener.

Top summer signing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has yet to find the back of the net in domestic competition since moving to the San Siro from Real Madrid.

Ronaldinho did score his first league goal of the campaign at the weekend to fuel hopes at the club that he still has the ability that made him a superstar at Barcelona.

"It's important that Ronaldinho wants to play for 90 minutes," said Leonardo.

"In recent games he has entered the pitch and has responded well.

"We expect a lot from him."
