Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Manchester United continue to stay one step ahead in the Barclays Premier League title race because they have men who can deliver when the season's decisive moments enter "money time".
United moved five points clear of rivals Manchester City with victory at Blackburn on Monday night secured by a late double salvo from Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young.
That lead could extend to eight by the time the Blues kick off at Arsenal on Sunday afternoon should, as expected, the Red Devils see off relegation battlers QPR at Old Trafford in Easter Sunday's lunchtime kick-off.
Wenger may now not be in direct competition with Sir Alex Ferguson's men for the domestic championship, but remains impressed by their ability to dig out results when not firing on all cylinders.
"Manchester United are surprisingly in a comfortable position, no one expected them to be because they did not look absolutely irresistible this year," Wenger said.
"You could see that again on Monday night against Blackburn, but they managed to win the game.
"If Manchester United make it to the title, it is really down to experience."
Wenger continued: "At Blackburn when [Ryan] Giggs came on in the last 15 minutes you thought 'they can only win it now' because they know how to deal with the money time, that means the last 15 minutes in football when it is 0-0.
"They don't make a mistake, they have that security at the back. United have won so many titles because they are not nervous."
City boss Roberto Mancini feels should his side lose to the Gunners, it would be almost impossible to overhaul such a deficit in the remaining six games.
Wenger, though, does not believe things can be put so simply.
"They still play Man United at home so it's far from over. The fight is open," said the Arsenal boss.
"Manchester United at the moment has a little advantage, but we will see. It is very difficult to predict what will happen."
Wenger believes the battle for domestic supremacy is not about to get any easier.
"In England, the alignment changes quickly," he said.
"You don't know how Chelsea will respond to this season, you have Liverpool, us, Newcastle, Chelsea, Manchester United, who will strengthen their team again.
"The alignment is much more unpredictable."
One player certainly on the money for Arsenal this season has been captain Robin van Persie.
The Holland forward has managed to stay relatively injury free and plundered 33 goals as a result, making him a leading candidate for both the upcoming Professional Football Association Player of the Year and Footballer Writers' Association Footballer of the Year awards.
For Wenger, there would be no more worthy winner than the 28-year-old Gunners skipper.
"Van Persie is a strong contender, certainly. His focus has always been very great, but his consistent presence has not been fantastic.
"It is the first year he has really been consistently on the football and that explains why he deserves completely to be player of the year."
