Urawa Reds striker Washington is expected to start against Seongnam Ilhwa in the crucial second leg of the AFC Champions League semi-final.
The 32-year-old former Atletico Paranaense forward suffered a facial injury while scoring in Saturday's 4-2 win over JEF United Chiba and was a major doubt ahead of the crucial clash.
However, the damage to the Brazilian's nose is not as bad as initially feared and he is expected to line-up wearing a specially made facemask in an Urawa side aiming to qualify for the final for the first time.
"It's not as bad as I thought at first and he will have a chance to play," said Reds coach Holger Osieck.
Urawa go into the second leg with a slim advantage following a 2-2 draw in Korea three weeks ago and the presence of Washington - last season's top scorer in the J.League - will be important as they aim to become the first Japanese side to win the AFC Champions League.
They are currently involved in a chase for an unprecedented treble of AFC Champions League, J.League and Emperor's Cup, and despite the potential of a historic haul, Osieck is maintaining his focus on the encounter with the K-League champions.
"I can't think about anything beyond tomorrow's game," added the German. "We have got to be focused, that's what we have got to do. What will happen later, I don't know.
"We can't lose the ground below our feet. We have got to be very focused on Wednesday and then we will see what happens in the future."
Meanwhile, Seongnam, who need to either win or secure a high-scoring draw, will be without influential Brazilian Mota after the striker suffered ligament damage to his right knee in the final round of K-League action earlier in the month.
"Mota's absence definitely hurts because he's an important player for us, but in the K-League we have won games without him so we're okay," said coach Kim Hak-bum.
"The players have put in good performances in the AFC Champions League and in the K-League. We will also be missing Kim Cheol-ho, he will not play on Wednesday, but I think the rest of the players will do their best."
Seongnam go into the game against Reds well rested, having not played a competitive fixture since topping the K-League standings at the end of the regular season and Kim believes the break will stand his players in good stead.
"We had the last game in the K-League on October 14 and the players were tired, but since then we have rested and I think the players are in really good condition," he added.
"So I think it's going to be a really good game. We want to show our offensive style."
