Sebastian Eguren, Ignacio Gonzalez and Sebastian Abreu scored in the second half as Uruguay fought back from a goal down to record a 3-1 win over Japan at the Sapporo Dome on Wednesday.
The hosts were handed the lead three minutes after half-time when midfielder Eguren turned the ball into his own net.
But the Villarreal man redeemed himself by grabbing the equaliser seven minutes later before late strikes from Monaco's Gonzalez and Beitar Jerusalem's Abreu secured the win.
Both teams are preparing for the World Cup qualifiers next month.
Japan travel to Bahrain on September 6 for the opening game of the final round of Asian qualifiers, while Uruguay host Ecuador four days later in the South American qualifying zone.
