After their 2-1 win over the Socceroos, the Uruguayan players were able to let their hair down in Sydney after the game.
Uruguay insiders tell au.fourfourtwo.com that the players ended up at a “skanky” niteclub in Parramatta where Diego Forlan – the scorer of La Celeste’s first goal – partied on till 3.30am before going directly to the airport for a 5.30am flight back to Spain.
“The guys even gave out their shirts to the fans even though they weren’t supposed to. They later told team management they accidentally lost them!” says the insider.
“They don’t mind a beer! Lugano, Recoba, they were all having a brillaint time and they’re such great guys. But whenever they were photographed, they were switched on enough to put their beers away.
“And they really appreciated the fact that so many Uruguayans came to support them.”
