Mason Greenwood scored his first goal in a Manchester United shirt during the Red Devils' 4-0 pre-season win over Leeds at Optus Stadium on Wednesday night.

Solskjaer was left so impressed by the teenager's display that he is considering handing him a start for the Red Devils' blockbuster showdown with Chelsea in round one of the English Premier League on August 12.

With striker Romelu Lukaku increasingly likely to join Inter Milan, Greenwood could become an important part of Solskjaer's plans during the upcoming EPL campaign.

The teenager tasted EPL action for the first time late last season, but looks ready to take an even bigger step forward when the 2019/20 campaign kicks off.

Championship side Leeds United proved no match for Premier League giants Manchester United when they clashed in a bruising encounter at Optus Stadium in Perth, with the Red Devils cruising to a 4-0 over their Yorkshire rivals. Check out the pics above.

"He's got a chance to start that one, definitely," Solskjaer said of the game against Chelsea.

"He's more than capable. He'll always be there in and around the box creating chances.

"It's a good possibility if he keeps going as he does. It's difficult to keep players out that perform well."

Solskjaer was particularly impressed by Greenwood's ability to strike with both feet.

"He's a natural. He's almost what you call 50-50. Maybe 51-49 left-footed," Solskjaer said.

"You see a talented boy there. He's got every opportunity to make it as a Man United player."

United ended their pre-season tour of Perth with wins over Glory (2-0) and Leeds.

England international Marcus Rashford scored in both games, while Paul Pogba starred through the midfield despite huge speculation surrounding his future.

Lukaku missed both of the pre-season games, and it seems just a matter of when - not if - he leaves United.

"It's not ideal when you miss training sessions," Solksjaer said of Lukaku, who apparently was nursing a minor niggle.

"He missed towards the end of (Tuesday's) session, then he missed the game again (on Wednesday).

"At this stage of the pre-season it's important for us to get everyone fit. Hopefully he'll be fit soon."

Leeds were brave against Manchester United, creating a flurry of chances that should have at least resulted in two goals for the night.

They will now fly to Sydney to face off against the Western Sydney Wanderers in Parramatta on Saturday night.
