SOCCEROO Carl Valeri's Italian Serie B club Sassuolo have purchased the World Cup star's contract outright after reaching an agreement with his former club Grosseto.
The Australian midfielder, who joined Sassuolo from Grosseto in January, was part owned by both clubs under Italy's unusual co-ownership system.
Sassuolo now have acquired Grosseto's half-share of the Socceroo who impressed in South Africa at the 2010 World Cup.
As a result, Valeri's contract won't go to the blind auction known in Italy as 'going to the envelopes'.
The second tier club, who made the Serie B promotion playoffs last campaign, also announced this week Daniele Arrigoni would be their new manager.
Former boss Stefano Pioli, who signed Valeri having worked with him at Grosseto, departed for Serie A outfit Chievo Verona in June.
