AUSSIES ABROAD: Socceroo Carl Valeri provided an assist as Sassuolo kept alive their automatic promotion hopes with a 4-1 win at Salernitana in Italy's Serie B overnight.
Valeri, who was selected in Pim Australia's 31-man provisional World Cup squad, put in a full shift in midfield for Sassuolo who are fourth with two league games to play.
After picking up an eighth minute booking, Valeri crossed for Daniele Quadrini to volley home the opener on 16 minutes.
Sassuolo striker Alessandro Noselli then took over, grabbing a hat-trick before Salernitana scored a late consolation.
In Turkey's Super Lig, Mile Jedinak put in a full shift as Antalyaspor finished the season off on a high with a 4-0 win over Kayserispor. For the losers, James Troisi was a 46th minute sub.
Elsewhere, overlooked Socceroo striker Bruce Djite didn't get a run as relegated Diyarbakirspor lost 2-0 at home to Eskisehirspor, while Aussie keeper Michael Petkovic was also missing as Sivasspor drew 3-3 with Ankaragucu.
In Russia's Premier League, Socceroo Luke Wilkshire played a full game, picking up a late booking, as Dinamo Moscow defeated Alania Vladikavkaz 2-0.
In England's League One promotion playoffs, Dean Heffernan wasn't in the Huddersfield Town side which drew 0-0 at home with Millwall.
In England's League Two promotion playoffs, Aussie stopper Jamie Young was forced off on 23 minutes with injury as Aldershot lost 1-0 at home to Rotherham.
Over to Asia, in Japan's J.League, Aussie defender Eddy Bosnar put in a full shift as leaders Shimizu S-Pulse slipped to a 2-2 draw at FC Tokyo.
Shimizu conceded two goals inside the last ten minutes, offering Joshua Kennedy's Nagoya a chance to go level with them on points at the top when they face Kashima Antlers on Sunday.
Elsewhere, overlooked Australian Matthew Spiranovic made his first J.League start, playing a full game as Urawa Reds' 1-1 drew at Vegalta Sendai.
After the game, Urawa boss Volker Finke reserved praise for Spiranovic.
In UAE's Football League on Friday, Socceroo Michael Beauchamp's Al Jazira drew 2-2 at Al Wasl. Al Jazira finished the season second, seven points behind champions Al Wahda.
Over in USA's MLS, ex-Melbourne Victory frontman Danny Allsopp played a full game as DC United lost again 1-0 at home to Colorado Rapids.
