EUROROOS WRAP: Socceroo Carl Valeri has helped Sassuolo move a step closer to promotion to Serie A after they moved into second with a 2-1 win over Frosinone on Friday.
The 25-year-old Canberra-born midfielder played a full game for Sassuolo who went ahead on nine minutes courtesy of a Gaetano Masucci long-range screamer.
Sassuolo had further chances to increase their lead before allowing Frosinone back into the game prior to the break, with Roberto Stellone equalising on 45 minutes.
But Alessandro Noselli grabbed the winner for Sassuolo on 75 minutes, although Frosinone should have levelled late when Stellone failed to convert a penalty he'd won himself.
All Serie B clubs have nine matches to play still, but Sassuolo have hit form at the right time, after four consecutive losses in February they've not lost in their last five matches.
In Croatia's Prva HNL, former Socceroo Josip Skoko put in a full shift for Hajduk Split, picking up a yellow card, in their 1-1 draw at NK Zagreb.
In France's Ligue 2, Australian-born defender Ante Rozic wasn't involved as Sedan drew 1-1 with Istres.
