The 34-year-old is out of contract in the off-season and is very likely to leave the London club according to his agent, with no contract offer forthcoming.

"Lampard would be perfect for the type of game we want to play," Valero told reporters.

"But the players are only thinking of playing, we leave what happens in the transfer market to the club."

Fiorentina have enjoyed a stunning season so far, and sit fourth in the Serie A and with a shout of Champions League qualification.

"We have to continue the way we have been so far. The club must remain near the top of the table," Valero said.

"We will try until the very last game to get into the Champions League, but there are many team in this league that can do the same."
