Marco van Basten has dismissed criticism from Clarence Seedorf after the AC Milan midfielder claimed he "gives, gives, gives" to the Holland coach "but gets nothing back".
Van Basten has expressed his surprise at Seedorf's remarks after sanctioning the player's withdrawal from the national-team squad for the Euro 2008 qualifier against Belarus last month.
The Oranje boss said: "It is remarkable and disappointing.
"Especially after what happened after Holland against Luxembourg. We wanted to take him with us to Belarus, but Seedorf didn't want to go because of his busy programme and physical condition.
"After extensive talks we showed understanding and gave him permission to return to Milan - and after that he comes out with these remarks. It is disappointing.
"At the start of next year we will speak with him and will see what comes out of that.
"For the time being, though, there will not be any consequences of this."
