Van Dijk signed for Untied on a short-term contract for the Reds AFC Champions League campaign before penning a three-year deal with the club.

The star striker acknowledged though, first and foremost a win for the Reds was top priority.

"Of course it's a special game for me," Van Dijk said.

"But I know what is at stake, a win and that is actually the most important thing now, we have to continue our good form."

Van Dijk denied there was any animosity from Brisbane since his departure, adding he wouldn't buy into any trash talk from media in Queensland.

He said he only focussed on continuing his good form and if he performs well against Brisbane - so be it.

The 28 year-old admitted though if he does manage to find the back of the net against his former side the celebration will be low key.

"I don't know and I didn't even really think about it, and to be honest I don't care," he said.

"I just want to play a good game and if it's against Brisbane and when the whistle goes, they are my enemy... When it's over I still have good feelings about Brisbane. I don't think I left with any problems with anyone so what the crowd might think that's their own opinion."

"I think I'll keep it quiet. I still have a good feeling about my time over there so that's the thing they can expect if I should score."

Van Dijk admitted he had contacted some of his ex team-mates, playfully taunting them after Brisbane's 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Melbourne Victory.

The Reds' striker joked the Roar would already daunted by the prospect of facing an in form and rampant United outfit after such a heavy defeat.

"I've texted some guys already after they lost to Melbourne," he said.

"(I asked) if they were nervous already but it's just mucking around. They want to show of course that the loss they had last week was just a (one-off) incident. It's going to be a tough game because they play good football and so do we."

Van Dijk added he hasn't been at all surprised by United's blistering start to the season, admitting the Reds' wooden spoon last campaign didn't reflect the quality of the squad.

"Before I signed, I had a feeling that the quality of the squad wasn't really reflecting the season so I thought the season was more a lack of confidence, not a lack of quality," he said.

"Lucky, until now I've proven myself right that we're doing well and I've made the right decision, so for now I can be happy. It's still a long season and a lot can happen. We have to work hard and see."
