Newcastle Jets coach Gary Van Egmond has said he would be "honoured" to play a role in the national coaching set up after Socceroo coach Graham Arnold stated he'd like to bring the Newcastle coach into the national team to gain experience.
"It would be an absolute privilege and honour to be involved in the national set up and it would be something that I’d extremely cherish," Van Egmond told www.au.fourfourtwo.com.
Van Egmond is considered one of the rising stars of Aussie coaching after a brilliant turnaround in the fortunes of Newcastle last season.
Arnold said on Monday that coaches like Van Egmond should be encouraged. "I'd like if possible for him to come into camp and for us to pass on our knowledge to him at some stage. It'll be good for him to experience international football and to see what we do. It's totally different to club football," said Arnold.
