The Bundesliga champions dominated the game from start to finish, demolishing Bremen 4-0 in Berlin's Olympic Stadium to complete the domestic double and leave them on course for an historic treble.

They will head into the Champions League final against Inter Milan in Madrid next week full of confidence and, according to Van Gaal, ready to show that they can play even better than they did tonight.

"I think that next week, with the game against our friend Jose Mourinho, we can also create a surprise," he told ZDF.

"I don't think we have reached the end yet. We are still in a process and I think that we can get even better, and I hope that we can show that against Inter Milan."

The ease with which Bayern swept Bremen aside will surely have been noted by Inter and defender Philipp Lahm has warned them to expect a Bayern side still hungry for success.

"You could see today that we still want to win everything," Lahm said. "We have a final again next week and we intend to win it."

Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf admitted his side were beaten by the better team, although he felt the margin of defeat was a bit deceptive.

"I think we just failed to take the chances that we created and we were not so far away from being successful ourselves," he said.

"But they are in a great condition at present and are incredibly self-confident.

"The goal that made it 2-0 was the turning point."
