Van Persie is satisfied the Gunners have matched his personal ambitions after reaching the last four of the Champions League and FA Cup.

There is real hope of ending the club's four-year trophy drought but they need to get past Hiddink's Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday if they are to progress to the domestic showpiece. Arsenal could then face the same opponents in the Champions League final if both teams get through their semis.

Van Persie is aware that Hiddink's brief spell in England, before returning to coach Russia, could ruin his own dreams of silverware.

"The first thing I thought when he came was 'oh no'," said fellow Dutchman Van Persie. "Chelsea are still in the FA Cup and Champions League and he will win something.

"He is unbelievable. Everything he does turns to gold. When I saw him two years ago in Holland, because we use the same physio sometimes, I asked to see his hands.

"He said 'yes, why?' I said that everything he puts his hand on turns to gold. He was laughing."

Even if Hiddink prevents Arsenal in their quest for a cup, Van Persie has been impressed with the progress his club have shown this season.

Arsene Wenger's side were seen as a crisis club when William Gallas was stripped of the captaincy but since then they have gone unbeaten in the Barclays Premier League.

Van Persie feels he will enjoy success at the club, even if they miss out this season. That is why he expects to extend his contract.

"I think the main thing is that Arsenal really want to extend it and I want to extend it as well," he said.

"For me, I believed every step. We can call ourselves one of the best four teams in Europe and that is about right. Now we want to move on and win it.

"That was my target, that is what I wanted. I wanted to do it with Arsenal. That is the biggest part of my dream.

"For me, it shows a lot that we are in this position now. That makes me really happy."

Wenger does not want to negotiate contracts while there is still plenty to play for this season.

"I fully respect the boss' opinion that he wants to focus on football, I've got no problem with that," Van Persie said. "So we are going to speak straight after the season about that."

Van Persie can focus fully on playing for the time being and he is relishing the chance to face a Chelsea defence that has leaked seven goals in two games.

"Of course," he said. "Earlier in the season we showed we can do that damage."

Arsenal appear to be the form team in England and they swept aside Villarreal to set up a Champions League semi-final against Manchester United.

Captain Cesc Fabregas insists they do not fear playing any opponents at the moment.

"We are not scared of anything, the way we play shows it all, we always try and play forward, we are direct, we are aggressive playing in the counter-attacks," he said. "I think for such a young age it is quite unbelievable, we will try to do the same thing against Chelsea and against Manchester United."

Fabregas is desperate to lift a trophy to reward Arsenal's progress in the last three months.

"We are in a very good position that three months ago we would be praying to be in," he said. "We have to enjoy it, for sure it would be a disappointment if we do not get to the final or win, what we have achieved is good but a semi-final is not good enough."
