Veart, who announced he will retire from professional football after Wednesday night’s game, will take the field for his final encore performance in front of his home crowd at Hindmarsh Stadium.

The veteran striker has not started in any of United’s AFC Champions League games to date, having only featured as a substitute in the team’s first two matches, but Vidmar confirmed Veart would be in the starting XI for his farewell match.

“Carl will definitely start the game and I’m sure he will give it his all as he has done throughout his magnificent career,” Vidmar said.

Despite being the final game before United’s squad goes on a break, Vidmar still expects the players to be in the right frame of mind to finish the AFC Champions League off on a positive note.

“We want to win our last game, especially at home. We all sat down and spoke before the last game about putting in two big efforts. One was put in against Shandong (a fortnight ago) and now we need one more,” Vidmar said.

As has been the story throughout Adelaide’s Asian campaign, Vidmar is forced to take in an undermanned side against Dong Tam Long An, having to make the most of the fit players he has available in a 16 man squad.

“The ones who are on the field will be fit and the guys on the bench won’t be so fit but we just have to make do.”

Jason Spagnuolo, Dez Giraldi and Rob Cornthwaite will all take up places on the bench, with Brazilians Fernando and Diego both injured and suspended duo Nathan Burns and Bruce Djite all out of the side.

With Veart filling in the main attacking role made vacant by Djite and Fernando, the space left by Burns on the left hand side could be taken up by Bobby Petta, who came on as a late substitute against Shandong Luneng or Lucas Pantelis.

Dong Tam Long An have had a forgettable AFC Champions League to date having lost all of their previous five games, however the Vietnamese champions will be determined to take something from the match against United having looked threatening against all of their Group G opponents.

"The game may have no bearing for the next stage of the AFC champions League, but with Veart, Fernando and Matthew Kemp all departing the club, the match is guaranteed to be a memorable and significant one for all Adelaide United supporters," added a club spokesman.

"The club urges all fans to attend Wednesday’s match to say farewell to three players who have given so much to the Adelaide United Football Club."
