PSV Eindhoven sporting director Marcel Brands has welcomed Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink's return to the club as a "win-win situation" for the out-of-contract player and PSV's up-and-coming youngsters.
The 32-year-old forward has been training with PSV following his release by Rapid Vienna.
Brands told www.telegraaf.nl: "Jan is a positive former PSV player with a great track record. Such an experienced player will help a number of our young boys. This is a win-win situation and we'll see how this will develop."
Brands did warn however: "If a club offers money for him tomorrow then he will be gone."
Discussing the possibility of PSV offering Vennegoor of Hesselink - who won three Eredivisie titles in a five-year spell at the Philips Stadion between 2001 and 2006 - a new contract, Brands added: "At the moment we have no budget confirmed for January. We have so far stayed within the budget and we would like to keep it that way."
