The coach saw his team bounce back from their defeat against Iraq to claim all three points in Doha.

Two goals from Brett Emerton and a Harry Kewell strike proved decisive.

Speaking to Fox Sports at the full-time whistle, Verbeek said: "I think for the first 25 minutes we were very good. In the last 20 minutes of the first half we gave control away a little bit.

"In the second half we did very well, controlled the game, scored very good goals and with a little bit of luck could have scored more.

"I think Jade North played a perfect game defensively."

As for recent criticism, Verbeek said: "I was a little bit surprised about what people said because as far as I know I think we play very attractive football. I think second half against Iraq was better than today. But you know how it works. If you don't win then there's always something to find.

"The boys did very well. They are finished now physically and mentally. But now we try to show a good professional mentality in the home game (against China) in Sydney.

"The fans are coming, they pay to see the players pay. I have to find out who is fit and who is not fit. We'd like to win the last game."

Verbeek revealed that FFA boss Frank Lowy had swiftly been on the phone to say well done. The coach joked: "He told us he was very pleased with the performance and I told him the boys will take a drink on the FFA bill."
