Speaking with reporters at Australia's training camp ahead of the Asian Cup qualifier against Indonesia, Verbeek said he would speak to Football Federation Australia before making his decision public.

There is growing speculation that the Dutchman will call it quits as he is keen to return to the day-in, day-out environment provided by club football.

"We will make a decision soon. It's good for them (the FFA), it's good for me, it's good for everybody," Verbeek told the Courier Mail.

"At this moment, the team needs all my energy and support. I want to focus on the game (against Indonesia) and not be distracted by anything else."

However, he has not completely ruled out staying on for the Asian Cup although the odds appear against it at this stage.

Han Berger is one of the favourites to take over should Verbeek move on to a fresh challenge.
