The squad contains only domestic-based players and Veron, who was a pivotal member of the Estudiantes side that won the Apertura title last season, knows he will have to show his best form if he is to be included in Alfio Basile`s squad for the Copa America this summer.

"To be here is like being young again," he said.

"I hope I can continue here, but I know it will all depend on me.

"The title I won with Estudiantes helped me, because if things hadn't gone as they did, it would have been more difficult."

Veron's Estudiantes team-mate Mariano Pavone is enjoying his first call-up to the national squad and admits that he was a nervous wreck before joining the camp.

"I found it very difficult to sleep," he said.

"It felt like the day before a crucial match. Now, I'm calm and relaxed because my dream of training with the national team has come true.

Rodrigo Palacio has pulled out of the squad after suffering a broken toe.
