Greenock Morton are in the hunt at the top half of the table and currently sit in fourth spot, nine points below league leaders Ayr.

In the Scottish Championship the champion is automatically promoted, while the clubs that finish second, third and fourth go into the playoffs, with the winner of that system facing off against the 11th-ranked Premiership side for the final spot in the first division.

Iredale says Morton are pushing hard to get to the top.

"We're aiming as high up as possible," he said. "We've got our eyes on the playoffs for sure. [But] we need to sort our consistency I think. I would love to play in the Premiership.

"I want to play as high as possible."

Iredale is only contracted to his club until the end of this season, but the defender has a clause in his deal for another year which will be activated if a certain amount of appearances are reached.

"Currently I'm on a one-year deal but there’s a possibility of it changing to two, depending on certain stuff," he said.

"But I'm really not focussed on that though. I’m just happy playing and the more games I play, well, the better it’ll be for me."
