OAKLEIGH has moved to the top of the Victorian Premier League after inflicting Hume City's first defeat of the season with a 3-1 win in round seven.
The Cannons capitalized to defeat and undermanned City side after Richmond failed to do so last week.
Striker Jerry Karpeh had an early goal disallowed for offside and the first half finished scoreless.
But there were three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second period.
Hume went ahead when Turhan Sumbul won the ball off the Cannons defence and slotted home in the 48th minute.
Three minutes later, the Cannons were level after Ari Drakos put away a partially cleared free kick.
Moments later, the same man gave the visitors the lead when he cut inside from the right and beat Lupce Acevski in the Hume goal.
As City pushed for an equaliser, Karpeh sealed the points for the Cannons on the counter attack in stoppage time.
South Melbourne continued its unbeaten start to the season with a 1-0 derby win over the Melbourne Knights.
A superb goal from midfielder Joe Keenan in the 28th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides.
After receiving the pass from midfield, the former Melbourne Victory man cut inside his marker and finished with perfection with a curling shot into the far corner of the net.
Richmond continued its good start to the season with a 2-0 win over 10-man Sunshine George Cross on Friday night.
The visitors were a man down after 11 minutes when striker Stuart Nicholson was sent off for an off the ball incident.
Richmond made the most of its numerical advantage, with defender Antun Kovacic opening the scoring with a header from Daniel Visevic's corner.
Fellow striker Jesse Krncevic made it two goals in as many games when he punished a defensive lapse to make it 2-0 in the 75th minute.
Less than five minutes later and the Eagles were also reduced to 10 men with Dimitri Tsiaras sent off for a second bookable offence.
The Georgies almost pulled one back before full time but Christos Konstas struck his free kick into the post.
Green Gully broke its home ground hoodoo with a 1-0 win over Northcote City.
The only goal of the game came from left back Steven Burton, who converted a penalty in the 21st minute after a City defender was adjudged to have handled in the area.
There were few chances for both teams in a game that never reached the highest of standards.
Dandenong Thunder's horrendous start to the season continued with a 2-0 home loss to Bentleigh.
Despite having the better of the opening period, the Thunder went into the break a goal down after Alex Rojas beat keeper Stuart Webster with a long strike in the eighth minute.
The Greens were the better side in the second period and were rewarded in the 77th minute when striker Damir Lokvancic converted a penalty after a handball.
Heidelberg is still in search of its first win of the season after letting the lead slip twice in a 2-2 draw with Altona Magic.
An uncharacteristic error from the Magic defence allowed striker Hamid Basma to score the opening goal of the game in the fourth minute.
But the Magic were level after 18 minutes when Mathew Theodore scored easily after a poor clearance from the United defence.
The Bergers were ahead for the second time in the match after half an hour when Osagie Ederaro put Saso Alexovski through to beat Tomislav Tomich in a one-on-one.
Again, it was short-lived, with a fine run and finish from Theodore bringing scores level just before the interval.
After a fast-paced opening, both teams slowed down in the second half and failed to find a winner.
