City handed last year's minor premiers Dandenong Thunder a 3-0 loss at a neutral venue in Port Melbourne.

Despite rain and hail hitting the state, the game went ahead with the Youth clash postponed to maintain the standard of the pitch.

Hume came to play and went ahead on 17 minutes as Tansel Baser scored his second goal of the season with a header from a Richard Cardozo cross.

They doubled their lead just after the half hour when striker Zoran Petrevski floated into the box unmarked.

Former Melbourne Victory defender Steven Pace rounded off the win with a fine strike in the 71st minute after another Cardozo cross.

Heidelberg United somehow managed to snatch a point at Melbourne Knights on Monday night, scoring two goals in the last five minutes for a 3-3 draw.

Goals from midfielder Josip Magdic and defender Ryan Filipovic on either side of an equaliser from Yanni Galanos gave the Knights a 2-1 half time lead.

When striker Jacob Colosimo capitalized on a fine through ball to slide the ball under the advancing keeper with 20 minutes to play, it looked as though the Knights would secure the three points.

But a goal from Steve Martin ensured a tense finish for the home side before Osagie Ederaro's second goal of the season snatched a point for United.

Green Gully secured its first points of the season with a 3-1 win at Richmond on Friday night.

The Cavaliers were ahead after six minutes when Andy Vargas' cross found Nicholas Robinson.

Gully's midfield dominance resulted in a second goal on 20 minutes when Steve Burton slotted home after a poor clearance from a corner.

Richmond pulled one back through impressive striker Daniel Visevic's free kick with 20 minutes to play but Robinson sealed the contest three minutes later.

South Melbourne was unable to score its first win of the season, drawing 1-1 at home with the Bentleigh Greens.

The Greens were reduced to 10 men with George Goutzioulis shown a red card for an off the ball incident.

It looked as though South would secure a victory when they were awarded a penalty for a handball.

Substitute Fernando De Moraes stepped up to strike home from the spot in the 83rd minute.

But the Greens showed character and a goal from Adam Fadljevic minutes later earned his side a point.

South keeper Peter Zois was caught out of position for the second time in as many games this season and Fadljevic was free to nod home.

A brace from striker Jerry Karpeh gave Oakleigh a 2-1 win over Northcote City on Friday night.

The Cannons fell behind in the second minute when Ahmet Turer latched onto a through ball to give City an unlikely early lead.

But Karpeh's pace caused problems all night and he was rewarded with goals on either side of half time.

Sunshine George Cross and Altona Magic played out a 0-0 stalemate in driving rain on Sunday.

The game's best chances fell to Magic with last week's goal scorer Tony Saric denied in a one-on-one and defender Doug Mladenovic denied by the woodwork.
