Melbourne Victory have appointed veteran board member Trent Jacobs as the club's new CEO.
Jacobs - who steps up from Chief Operating Officer after being involved with the Big V since 2007 - replaces Ian Robson who left the role in December.
The club reportedly took on external consulting advice to assist in making the appointment, but eventually decided on someone that many feel was the natural replacement. Chairman, Anthony Di Pietro, echoed that sentiment.
"Trent has served a long apprenticeship and possesses a deep understanding of the club and football landscape, so he thoroughly deserves the opportunity to be Chief Executive of our great football club," he said.
"Trent has worked across all facets of the business, as well as undertaking a variety of significant projects during his time with the club and has displayed all of the traits required to be an exceptional leader.
"My fellow Directors and I were very impressed with Trent's vision for the club and where he plans to take it, so from that perspective we're in excellent hands."
Robson had been CEO since 2013, presiding over an A-League Championship in 2015 under Kevin Muscat and a rise to no.31 in the AFC club rankings. The news comes as Muscat signs a two-year extension.
Jacobs said he was eager to implement some new initiatives at the club.
“This is such a unique club, with a short, yet very successful history," Victory's new CEO said.
"It's exciting to be able to capitalise on the strong foundations set, but also look to implement some new initiatives that will improve the experience for members, fans and our partners across the board."
