Melbourne Victory assistant coach Jean-Paul De Marigny has copped a one match ban for abusing a match official during Saturday night’s fiery Melbourne Derby.
De Marigny was sent to the stands in the 79th minute in a match that Victory won 2-1, leapfrogging crosstown rivals Melbourne City into second spot.
The independent Match Review Panel determined the coach “committed the offence of Use of offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures towards a match official”.
De Marigny joins a growing list of A-League coaches sanctioned for their behaviour towards match officials this season.
After just 11 rounds Kevin Muscat (Victory), Tony Popovic (Wanderers) Guillermo Amor (Adelaide United) and Kenny Lowe (Perth Glory) have fallen foul of the MRP.
