Jean-Paul De Marigny and Dean Anastasiadis, Victory's assistant coach and goalkeeping coach respectively, have been banned by FFA for four matches following an on-field bust up with Sydney's David Carney.

Both coaches were red carded during the match after VAR reviewed an altercation between the Victory staffers and Carney, in which De Marigny slapped the Sky Blues defender.

The incident occurred in the aftermath of Terry Antonis' extra time winner against Sydney in Melbourne's 3-2 victory after extra-time.

FFA's match review panel decided to impose a tougher sanction, despite the offence - “Assault on a Player, Team Official, spectator or any person other than a Match Official (including physical or aggressive behavior to such individuals)” - carrying a minimum two match ban.

The FFA added: "The MRP proposed a sanction of four (4) matches, being the Mandatory Match Suspension plus three (3) additional matches. The minimum sanction for the offence is two (2) matches, being the Mandatory Match Suspension plus one (1) additional match".

The ruling will prevent the two Victory coaches from taking any part in pre-match warmups, in addition to on-field preparation, for the Big V's A-League Grand Final against Newcastle Jets.

The pair have until April 30 to appeal the decision.
