Melbourne Victory are in “advanced negotiations” with Perth Glory’s recalled Socceroo Rhys Williams, according to Fox Sports.
The 28-year-old Perth-born defender/midfielder has endured a mixed first season at hometown club Glory since returning from England where he spent almost a decade at Middlesbrough.
Williams was frozen out at Glory throughout January and wanted to leave the club, but no deal was done before the A-League transfer window closed.
The Socceroo was linked with Sydney FC who are reportedly still keen on Williams, but Victory are said to be leading the chase.
Williams' return to the Glory first-team led to his first Australia call-up in almost three-and-a-half years for this week's 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Iraq and UAE.
