Melbourne Victory remain Western Sydney Wanderers' bogey team after inflicting a 3-0 loss on Tony Popovic's men at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.
Goals to Oliver Bozanic (26'), substitute Jai Ingham (65') and a debut strike for German Maxi Beister (85') secured all three points for Victory and their first clean sheet of the season.
Wanderers have only beaten Victory once in their past eight meetings.
The result sees the home side surge to fourth on the A-League table while Wanderers drop out of the top six to seventh with their first loss since round one.
A crowd of 21,480 turned out to the Remembrance Round fixture as Beister finally made his awaited Victory debut in the final 18 minutes.
Coming on the park for Fahid Ben Khalfallah, he got on the scoresheet with four minutes remaining in the game after some excellent build-up from Ingham.
The Wanderers maintained the possession in the first 26 minutes, but Bozanic scored his first goal for Victory since March after a defensive blunder.
An Artiz Borda and Dimas mishap at the back led to Besart Berisha pouncing on the loose ball and setting up Bozanic for an easy finish in the six-yard box.
Ingham then claimed his first goal for Victory in the A-League to put the home side in a commanding position.
Western Sydney’s Japanese winger Jumpei Kusukami looked lively throughout the game and almost equalised only to be denied by a Leigh Broxham deflection shortly after conceding.
With 10 minutes remaining in the first term, Bozanic continued to threaten, only narrowly missing a shot from distance. While Borda’s bad night continued as he was muscled off the ball by James Troisi in the box, the Socceroo’s subsequent shot struck the crossbar on its way out.
Both teams felt they didn't get the rub of the calls - Victory attacker Mitch Austin's goal late in the first half was controversially chalked off for offside.
Meanwhile Wanderers could have, and probably should have, had a penalty on 53 minutes when Jason Geria appeared to chop down Jumpei Kusukami inside the area.
Victory doubled their lead just after the hour as Troisi’s efforts to keep the ball in play paid dividends when his cross back into the box found Ingham who made it 2-0.
The Wanderers almost pulled one back moments later as a scramble in the box had Kerem Bulut’s shot at an open goal roll wide.
A beautiful trio move at the 86th minute put the game beyond all doubt. Starting from Troisi’s long ball to Ingham whose final cross was easy enough for Beister to get his goal on debut.
Wanderers next play Melbourne City, while the Blue and White head across the ditch the face Wellington Phoenix.
