Victory lost key midfielder Mark Milligan to Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli late in the January transfer window, while they allowed replacement player Dino Djulbic to leave despite potentially being utilised for the ACL.

Victory did sign Terry Antonis from Dutch outfit VVV Venlo in January, but appear light in terms of depth ahead of the ACL which will test the club.

The transfer window closed on Wednesday but Victory could still sign free agents before the ACL cut-off.

Speaking after Victory's 2-0 loss to Newcastle Jets, Muscat appeared cool on the idea.

"Obviously if there was an opportunity, we're looking at this point of time," Muscat said.

"Considering the window is closed and the type of player that is available, with the period of games we've got left, how much football they would have played, you've got to weigh up alot of things."

Fellow A-League ACL participants Sydney FC added free agent Fabio Ferreira this week along with Ben Warland from Adelaide United.

Meanwhile, Muscat added that he was hopeful goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas would be fine after a heavy collision with Andrew Nabbout late in the Jets game.

Thomas was stretchered off the field with concussion and taken to hospital.

"It was a decent collision from what I've seen," Muscat said.

"Hopefully he'll be fine. They've ruled out major things and it's just precautionary."
