Adelaide United coach Aurelio Vidmar has lavished praise on his young attacking duo of Nathan Burns and Bruce Djite following the Reds’ 2-2 draw in Queensland on Saturday night.
"They're enthusiastic, very enthusiastic the young kids and that rubs off on everyone else," the former Socceroo said, after both Olyroos scored in Adelaide's A-League opener against the Roar.
Both Burns and Djite completed a hectic week of football with a full 90 minutes at Suncorp Stadium, with Djite imparticular standing out after some physical treatment from the Queensland backline.
"Yes, he's very raw, Brucey, and he's still got a lot of work to do and he knows that," added Vidmar. "He's taken that on board and I think that's a positive sign."
The two Olyroo strikers flew in after a tiring midweek game in Qatar against Iraq. The pair barely slept before the game against Roar but excelled on the park, scoring once each.
“It goes to show the level of professionalism those two boys have. They played last Saturday and they also played Wednesday in 40-degree heat, and after hardly any sleep yesterday backing up today in these conditions, I thought it was an exceptional effort.
"Burnsy is Burnsy. He's a very good footballer and every game he tries to raise that level just a little bit more and I think if he keeps that attitude he can be what he wants to be."
