Goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic, versatile defender/midfielders Paul Reid and Scott Jamieson and defender Robert Cornthwaite were named in a 35 man squad by national Head Coach Pim Verbeek ahead of the next crucial match in the Socceroos' road to South Africa.

No other A-League side has more representatives in the squad for the World Cup qualifier.

Vidmar said: "I’m very pleased for the boys. They’ve all had pretty good seasons up to now so that’s fantastic.

“It’s fantastic for the club. It’s a credit to the players, they’ve really done the hard work and the form on all of them has been tremendous so it’s understandable that Pim wants to have a look at them.”

None of the four are yet to make an appearance for the Socceroos, however Galekovic, Jamieson and Cornthwaite have all previously represented Australia at underage level, while it will be Reid’s first time in a national squad.

Galekovic was the reserve goalkeeper for the Socceroos in a match against Turkey 2004 having been Australia’s number one at the Athens Olympics.

The Melbourne-born keeper has been a standout for Adelaide United since signing with the club midway through the Hyundai A-League 2007/08 Season and has put together a string of superb performances in the AFC Champions League.

Cornthwaite narrowly missed out on inclusion into the Olyroos squad for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the defender showing his value at both ends of the pitch with two goals so far in the 2008 ACL.

Jamieson and former NSL championship winner Reid both returned to Australia this year after playing in England, their form for United taking the interest of Verbeek.

The quartet is scheduled to join the rest of the Socceroos squad, which comprises of big names Harry Kewell, Lucas Neill, Mark Schwarzer and Tim Cahill among others, in Brisbane after The Reds’ AFC Champions League Semi Final 1st leg against Bunyodkor on Wednesday 8 October.
