United advanced to the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 2-0 aggregate victory over Jose Mourinho's side last night.

Vidic and Cristiano Ronaldo scored the goals early in each half, but Sir Alex Ferguson was not impressed with his side's display and Inter twice hit the woodwork through Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Adriano.

Vidic concedes United must improve when they face Liverpool at Old Trafford with the chance to move 10 points clear at the top of the table.

"We need to forget Inter now," Vidic said. "Liverpool is the next big game we must play and they are in good form, full of confidence. They had a great win against Real Madrid (4-0 on Tuesday).

"But we're at home in front of our crowd and I hope we are going to be much better than we were against Inter.

"We will definitely try to improve, to erase the mistakes we made and play better against Liverpool."

Liverpool hope Fernando Torres will be fit to face United after needing a pain-killing injection to feature against Madrid.

Torres, who scored Liverpool's opening goal at Anfield, said: "I feel good. My ankle felt a little painful in the second half against Real, but that doesn't matter for a match like this.

"We will work hard on the injury and train hard and I think I will be 100% for Saturday.

"It is a massive game that I hope to win because that will give us more chances in the league. We know it's very important to win there, if not they will be many points ahead."

Chelsea take on Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and with Aston Villa also not playing until Sunday - at home to Tottenham, Arsenal have the chance to climb above them - for 24 hours at least - into the final Champions League spot.

Arsene Wenger's side will have to shrug off the effects of their penalty shoot-out victory over Roma in the Champions League last night, when they won 7-6 on penalties after extra-time.

But they face a Blackburn side buoyed by climbing out of the bottom three following the 2-1 midweek win at Fulham.

"It's a huge relief from a mental point of view," Rovers boss Sam Allardyce said.

"Continuing to see yourselves in the bottom three doesn't help, even though you tell the players 'You can't look at the papers, stay away from them'."

Elsewhere on Saturday, Sunderland will look to climb away from the relegation zone at home to Wigan, while two of the bottom three, Middlesbrough and Portsmouth, clash at the Riverside.

Middlesbrough secured a shock win against Liverpool in their last home fixture, but were then thrashed 4-0 at Tottenham a few days later, while Portsmouth's last game ended in a 1-0 home defeat to Chelsea.

Newcastle, currently outside the bottom three only on goal difference, travel to fellow strugglers Hull while mid-table pair Bolton and Fulham meet at the Reebok Stadium.

Saturday's other game sees Everton, still in with an outside chance of claiming the fourth Champions League spot from Villa or Arsenal, at home to Stoke.
