No sooner had the Barclays Premier League title been secured for a third successive season than the players were looking to lift another trophy.

Following the last fixture of the domestic campaign against Hull on Sunday, United head for Rome and an eagerly-awaited showdown with Barcelona in the Champions League final on May 27.

United are defending the trophy, and Vidic, 27, is anxious to get his hands on another winners' medal.

"That is the thing about this club. We try to focus just about what is next," he said.

"Forget the past. We celebrated with the trophy among the players and family after beating Chelsea (in the Champions League final last season). Then the next day we flew home.

"When we started this season we just spoke about what would happen next. We forgot about what was behind us, because that is the past and we only look forward.

"If you play for Manchester United, you know what you need to do and that is win trophies. It is a habit.

"Nothing has changed this year compared to last. We believe in ourselves."

Vidic was the only ever-present outfield member of a defence that kept 13 successive clean sheets from late November to the beginning of March, the period in which Manchester United's record-equalling 18th league championship was all but secured.

He admits performing in front of 75,000 supporters at Old Trafford brings its own special demands.

"Playing for this club you have pressure every week and you need to deal with that," he told www.uefa.com. "You have to be focused, your excitement can go too high and also too low.

"You need to know how to be able to deal with these things. It's a mental thing and we have the players to do it well on the pitch."

The central defensive partnership between Vidic and Rio Ferdinand has been crucial to United's title campaign - one in which they kept a hungry Liverpool at bay.

Vidic added: "Rio is a great player with great abilities. We think in the same way on the pitch. I can't explain, it just happens.

"Some players you just feel good when you play alongside them. With Rio, I feel good when I play and I just enjoy it. He is the best partner I have had."

Vidic was also named fans' player of the year as well as receiving the players' award.

He added: "It has been a really good year, although I am surprised I got it (the awards). I do not have that many of them."

Ryan Giggs, the PFA Player of the Year this season, was full of praise for Vidic, and said: "Consistently throughout the season he's been brilliant."

Cristiano Ronaldo took the goal of the year award for his 40-yard strike away to Porto in the Champions League quarter-finals.
