FC NURNBERG'S Socceroo Dario Vidosic is set to miss tonight's Bundesliga clash with FSV Mainz through illness and not because of a poor performance last weekend.
The 23-year-old Australian international has a gastrointestinal infection and will be unavailable for the match away to second-placed Mainz.
Vidosic's enforced absence is the latest for Nurnberg who were without Javier Pinola (suspension), Juri Judt (injury) and Per Nilsson (injury) for last weekend's 3-1 loss to Kaiserslautern where the Aussie was given a start at right-back by boss Dieter Hecking.
Unfortunately for Vidosic he had a game to forget against struggling Kaiserslautern, appearing uncertain in defence as The Red Devils scored three first-half goals before Hecking elected to withdraw the Aussie after just 39 minutes.
Vidosic had played at right-back for Nurnberg in pre-season as well as last season while on loan at MSV Duisburg, but Hecking admitted after the game he'd made a mistake in selection.
"Starting Dario Vidosic at right-back was a miscalculation," he said.
"That'll be on my head. I'm sorry for the boy."
When he asked who was to blame for the first-half horror show against Kaiserslautern, Hecking pointed the finger at all of his players.
"The whole team were (to blame) before the break, we were too lazy to be accurate in our passing game and not aggressive enough," he said.
