Two-goal hero Dario Vidosic says Melbourne City are hitting their straps at exactly the right time after ending Newcastle Jets' record 24-game scoring streak on Sunday.
City became the first A-League team this season to shutout the Jets as they rebounded to third with an impressive 3-0 win at McDonald Jones Stadium.
A goal by Bruno Fornaroli (42') and a second half brace to VIdosc (53', 77') did the damage as Warren Joyce's men continue to build momentum leading into the finals.
"We’re starting to fire at the right part of the season," Vidosic told Fox Sports post-match.
"We’re starting to click and Bruno’s starting to get a little more game time into the legs. It’s all coming together at the right time for us."
Was it ever going to be anyone else?

While City were celebrating back-to-back 3-0 results it was a different story for the second-placed Jets who have now coughed up eight goals in the past two outings.
Vidosic then took advantage of some lazy defending, rising highest to head in off a Brattan corner before coolly dispatching a free kick for his ninth goal of the season.
Despite the double, the 30-year-old was more than happy to see Brattan pick up man of the match honours.
"I think he fully deserved it," he said.
"He’s been one of our unsung heroes with the work he puts into midfield. I think every week he has the most ball touches, the amount of defensive work he does as well."

The fringe Socceroo also heaped praise on Arzani who put in another eye-catching performance.
"He’s been outstanding from the first day I arrived when he came on against Wellington and put on two assists," Vidosic said.
"He’s just going up and up and up but he’s still got a lot of things to work on. We’ve always got an arm around him telling him things he can improve on because that next step of going over to Europe is a big step.
"He’s got that one-on-one you can’t teach, that speed, that strength. For a 19-year-old it’s incredible to see someone like that, that physical capacity as well.
"He’s just got to learn that defensive side and just a few little things as well and he’ll be the complete package."
Vidosic made the move from Phoenix to City in December and hasn't looked back.
"I’m just thoroughly enjoying it," he said. "I’ve got a big smile going in every day. The playing group was phenomenal from the first day I walked in and the coaching staff as well.
"I’ve been given licence a little bit more defensively because you’ve got the Arzanis and Brunos that can cause havoc. I’ve got a little bit more of a defensive duty.
"The boss lets my brain do the work as well – when to go forward and when to pick those pockets in between. So I’m just loving it and I’m hoping to lift a trophy at the end of the season."
