Vidosic was named in Australian coach Holger Osieck's 25-man provisional squad for the upcoming East Asian Cup qualifiers, starting on December 3.

Having last played for the Socceroos in a 0-0 draw with Serbia at Etihad Stadium last year, Vidosic appeared on the outer with Osieck before being re-called to a primarily A-League-based squad for the qualifying matches.

But scans on Monday have revealed that Vidosic suffered a small ligament tear during last Friday's 2-1 win over Sydney FC - a game where he scored a late winning goal - after being on the wrong end of a robust challenge from Ali Abbas.

"Had my scan, only a small tear, so some good news," said Vidosic through his Twitter account.

"Sad to miss out for @Socceroos, but wish them all the very best!"

Osieck will name the final squad that will travel to the tournament on Thursday ahead of competition beginning the following day.

No-one has been called up to replace him at this stage.
