COACH Pim Verbeek has called time on Mark Viduka's Socceroo career saying that he believes the striker has made up his mind to finish his international career.
As expected, the club-less star was left out of the up-coming games against Holland and Oman after last playing at club level at the back end of last season in England.
Verbeek has not spoken to Viduka since June and at today's announcement of his squads for October's two games, Verbeek said the player has more than likely made the decision already.
"I tried everything to get him into the June camp but then he made up his mind not to come and think about his future," he said.
"And probably now he's made up his mind for the future. Maybe it's the end. I don't know."
Viduka has been contemplating his future over recent months during a reported holiday to Croatia. And despite being linked with EPL struggler Portsmouth, the 33-year-old remains club-less.
Viduka, who has never played or trained under Verbeek apart from turning up to receive treatment for an injury at a training camp for last year's World Cup qualifier with Qatar in Brisbane, last played for the national team in 2007.
"I've heard stories about him and I had a very interesting dinner with him. I think he's a great guy, a great guy in the group," said Verbeek.
Viduka, capped 43 times for the national team will turn 34 the day before the Holland game on October 10.
He addedL "The players really like him but I don't select a player if the players like him. But again, never say never in life. "
