On Saturday Brad Jones saw two goals go past him against Manchester United. Jones was motionless for both goals as first Ryan Giggs drilled the ball into the bottom corner and then Ji-Sung Park doubled the lead on 51 minutes with Boro losing 2-0.

Mark Schwarzer faced a similar fate at Chelsea in the West London Derby. Coached by former Socceroos mentor Guus Hiddink the Blues opened the scoring in under a minute through French Striker Nicolas Anelka.

Two more goals saw Fulham lose 3-1 and fall behind in the battle for the final spot in next season's Europa League.

Lucas Neill's West Ham now claim that position after a 1-0 win away to Stoke. Neill played the full match but earned a yellow card in the 81st minute.

Vinny Grella played the full shift for Blackburn against Manchester City as Manchester's Brazilians scored three first half goals.

Grella and two other Rovers earned bookings for their vociferous protests when a penalty was awarded for handball just before halftime but it did no good as Blackburn lost 3-1 to leave them hovering above the relegation zone.

Adrian Leijer and David Carney's Norwich City played Charlton for Championship survival on Sunday. To stay up, Norwich needed to beat Charlton and hope Barnsley lost to Plymouth.

Adrian Leijer started for Norwich but the good news ended there. Leijer was replaced 5 minutes before halftime after the Canaries defence had already coughed up three goals. Carney never made it off the bench as Norwich were defeated 4-2.

Nick Carle played the full match for Crystal Palace in a scoreless draw with Sheffield United. Carle set up a good chance on the hour for Neil Danns when he slid the ball in behind the Sheffield defence however Danns shot wide with only the keeper to beat.

Mile Sterjovski played no part in Derby's 3-1 loss to Watford after being told last week that he will be released from the Rams.

In Turkey, Bruce Djite scored for Genclerbirligi against Istanbul Buyuksehir BSK while Michael Petkovic's Turkish leaders Sivasspor slipped to a 2-1 loss to Gaziantepspor Mile Jedinak was missing from the squad but James Troisi started for Genclerbirligi and Bruce Djite came off the bench in the 56th minute and scored a minute later.

That was the end of the celebrations for the Aussie lads though as Genclerbirligi slide toward the drop zone after losing 3-1.

Brett Holman made an appearance off the bench for the already crowned Dutch Champions AZ Alkmaar against Nikita Rukavytsya's Twente but Holman couldn't help AZ who went down 3-0 with Ruka left out of the Twente squad.

Jason Culina played the full match for PSV Eindhoven as they managed to draw 1-1 with NEC Nijmegen despite finishing with nine men after two red cards were issued.

Josh Kennedy continued Karlsruhe's unbeaten run since he has returned to the squad however it wasn't enough for bottom of the table Karlsruhe as they drew 0-0 with Energie Cottbus. Josh had an opportunity to take the lead before half time for Karlsruhe but the unmarked striker headed over the bar.

Scott Chipperfield played the full match but his club FC Basel lost their position at the top of the Swiss Super league after they drew 2-2 with FC Sion Sitten.

Heading North, Luke Wilkshire's Dinamo Moscow were back on the winners list in the Russian Super League as they defeated Spartak Moscow 2-0. Michael Beauchamp came off the bench in the 82nd minute for Danish Club Aab but they lost 3-0 to FC Copenhagen.

In the Scottish Premier League Scott McDonald fired a double as Celtic defeated Aberdeen 3-1. James Wesolowski started for Dundee United but came off after 26 minutes while Dundee went on the win 2-1 against Hibernian.

Trent McLenahan's Hamilton Academicals hosted Danny Invincibile's Kilmarnock at New Douglas Park. Both Aussies started the match however Invincibile came off injured after 15 minutes and the Accies went on the win the match 2-1.
