Jorvan Vieira will take charge of Iraq in this summer's AFC Asian Cup after the Iraq Football Association announced it had agreed terms with the Brazilian.
Vieira will replace Akram Salman, who was sacked last month after Iraq's early exit from the Gulf Cup last January in the UAE.
IFA president Hussein Saeed revealed Vieira will arrive in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Tuesday to sign a contract which will see him lead the national team in Bangkok next July, where they will take on co-hosts Thailand, Oman and newcomers Australia in Group A.
"We have reached to an agreement with Vieira and he will arrive in Amman on Tuesday with his agent to finally sign a contract with us," Saeed said.
"He will be the coach of the national team for the next West Asian Football Federation Championship and the Asian Cup finals.
"At the end of the Asian Cup, we will evaluate his performance and if there is good understanding between both sides, then I think there is nothing that will prevent us from renewing his contract."
Vieira, who was sacked in November 2006 as coach of Saudi Arabian side Al Taei, has also managed in Oman, Qatar and Kuwait and was in charge of Malaysia Under-20s during the ASEAN Football Federation Under-20 Championships in 2004.
