With five games to go, Barca are eleven points clear at the top of the table but while Vilanova has indicated that they would like to secure the title as soon as possible, they will not panic if it takes a few weeks more weeks to do so. 

"I do not think we are in a hurry to win the title," he said.

"Obviously, if we can win the league early it will be better. Why should we have to wait until the last game, if we can win it early? I do not think we are in a hurry, I believe we have had a great season, we got a lot of points. It was a pity last weekend in Bilbao that we lost two points, but I think everything will come together."

Although his side have done well domestically, they were knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich in midweek and Vilanova said fatigue may have played a part in their exit.

However, the 44-year-old refused to blame the two performances solely on tired legs.

"At the end, I got the impression that we are very bad physically, but that it is not the reason," he said.

"The other day we played very well against Athletic Bilbao, all the game, and even in the second half we were superior. We are talking about a couple of games, against a team doing well at the moment, and we were with a lot of injured players, and maybe we arrived a little bit tired. But it is not that we arrived in bad shape."

One man to miss out on the semi-final through injury was Lionel Messi, and Vilanova explained he was keen not to rush the forward back following his hamstring problem.

"I did not talk with Messi, but I saw him train. It is not the same in training, where everything is more controlled, than the effort the players put into a game. There are still many hours before the game and we will see how he feels about playing.

"Messi arrived very well, and the goals are there. If he had a small injury, it is normal for a player like him, with that characteristics, with that explosion."
